What is Shelf Planning?

Shelf planning, alternatively referred to as micro-space planning, is the practice of creating planograms that determine the location and quantity of products on retail shelves and other fixture types.

Why is Shelf Planning important?

Product assortments grouped in planograms is a core merchandising practice that ensures retailers present shoppers with an optimal range of products to drive satisfaction. Shelf planning is a critical component of a retailer’s overall merchandising strategy because it ensures the offering of products availability to shoppers is most reflective of their evolving preferences and the introduction of new items is accommodate.
